Rosario GeraciI was born and raised in Lima (actually in Chosica) and attended Universidad de Lima graduating with a degree in Law. I worked for more than a decade in the public sector, specifically in the field of international cooperation and social development. During those years I had the privilege to travel extensively through the country which made me aware of its immense needs, beauty and the magnificence of all its regions but mostly of the great potential of its people.
I came to the US for graduate school in Cleveland, Ohio (CWRU) and left with a degree in nonprofit management and a wonderful boyfriend, now husband. We have been since living in California, specifically in San Diego, where we finally settled and where we have raised our children. As a daughter of teachers, education and literacy have been dear to my heart. In 2016 I founded a social initiative, Mi Primer Libro Peru, which supports community libraries, develops training programs in Peru directed to early childhood educators in the public school system and promotes the field of children’s literature. I am fairly new to House of Peru and now as Director of Social Responsibility I am looking forward to creating connections geared to serve our local Peruvian community (particularly the young one) to secure HOP a long and fruitful future, promoting Peru, its culture in San Diego and beyond. |
